    Creek diving

Hello bottle finders. I've been visiting this site for a few months, but just recently took the time to photograph some of our treasures. My grandkids and I take advantage of our location along the Mississippi to find bottle in small tributaries. Jefferson County Missouri is mineral rich...

Can you identify this makers mark?

I poked around the internet and found that this kind of decoration was not uncommon in the early western United States. I didn't see this exact cross pattern, but I did find a star pattern. The bottle bases page on www.sha.org has a load of information.

Gross Bottling Co. / St. Louis, Missouri

Very interesting. This place was in the neighborhood I grew up in. It was closed by the time we moved there, but the building stood for many years. At that house, we had a garage that was originally built for horses. It had a fire pit and a privy. I bet there are some Gross bottles in that...

    Help with this one.. Thanks

Nice bottle. I found two B&S references. One is B&S Pasteurization company, the other Booth & Shontz a soft drink and bottling company. Both from Pennsylvania. Perhaps they are divisions of the same company. Booth & Shontz incorporated in the early 20th century and are no longer in...

    Anything interesting in this pile?

I'd like to find a few bottles like the ones with the ring for carrying it. Every one of those I've ever come across has the ring broken off, or I find the neck intact, but no bottle below it. Love the embossed soda/beer bottles, too. There were so many little soda making companies and local...

    I don't know much about bottles !!!

The brown bottle might be from the 1930's or 1940's. It was made at the Owens-Illinois glass factory in Alton, Il (the #7 on the left of the logo). If the number on the right is simply a single digit it probably from the 30s. If it's a single digit with a "." behind in it could be from the...

Patent bottle and blob top bottle

Thanks. That green bottle is so well made it thought it might be 20th century, but the blob top threw me off. I didn't know manufacturers still used that technique that late. On the Patent bottle, I've read it could be from as early as the 1860's, and the form was popular. The word Patent...

    bottle with seams

The bottle is 7.5 " tall and 2.25" in diameter. I'll research that CERTA angle. It seems like my grandmother might have used that for making jam. Thanks!

    bottle with seams

This bottle has me confused. It has obvious seams, but has a molded top and, I think, a faint seam that rolls over the top. It does have a mold number, 912, on the side of the bottle near the base. I see no makers mark. Any ideas?

Patent bottle and blob top bottle

My mother-in-law had the Patent bottle and green bottle in her storeroom. She's had them since she was young, and that was a while ago. I've seen a bit of information on the Patent bottle, but the green bottle has me stumped. It's nicely made, but the glass looks old and the blob top has my...

1957 old overholt bottle still sealed

The tax stamp says the whiskey was distilled in the spring of 1949 and bottled in 1957. You don't have a photo of the bottom of the bottle to show the maker's marks, but there's a good chance the bottle was created by the Owens-Illinois glass company.
