It's a specialty metal. I work for a specialty metal distributor and even they don't carry it. I did find a couple distributors, one in Chicago area, one in Detroit area, as well as Alro, and they all laughed when I told them how much I needed. Boy, was I wrong about that. Turns out, SS is not as common as I thought. Couldn't order any unless I wanted to buy a truckload. Obviously, I don't need that much! Junk yards it is, I suppose!- happyamos

Recommendation for getting a good etching?
Ha, looks pretty great for a quick rubbing! I'll pay attention to the bottoms and sides more as I start cataloging my collection, maybe I can come up with something myself! My most recent observations of this bottle lead me to believe it's just a dot in the triangle. I'm still trying to find...- happyamos

Recommendation for getting a good etching?
Thanks for the tips, I am going to get a large graphite pencil and give it a shot. Do different papers work better? Vellum paper vs a sheet of typical printer be paper?- happyamos

Recommendation for getting a good etching?
I've got a brown bottle, that I'm pretty sure dates to 1945, if that's the date code on the right of the maker's mark. The problem I'm having is with the maker's mark, itself. I've done a few rubbings on it with a crayon and a pencil, and just aren't getting very good results. Sometimes it looks...- happyamos
