Yes thank you, I was skeptical of that very thing as well.

    Real or fake?

Thank you. It looked applied. I took a chance on 20 bucks. It will sit on my shelf and hopefully one day I can replace it with a real one.

    Accidentally posted twice

    Real or fake?

Bought this over the weekend and it has me stumped. It is a gold amber Washington/Taylor flask. It does have an applied top. Glass appears to be from a wood mold. But the bottom has me stumped because I’ve never seen a pontil like this. If it’s fake, it’s a damn good fake.

Found in 110 feet of water in Lake George, NY

Didn’t know that bit! Thanks for sharing that because I was always told by my grandfather that was a type of water bottle!

Found in 110 feet of water in Lake George, NY

1860s-70s. Applied top and blown in a mold and by the shape I’d say that was a water bottle.

    Digging alone

There used to be a derby city bottle club but it seems they have either disbanded or don’t own a website anymore. I will keep searching.

    Digging alone

Thanks embe. I don’t really want to put this hobby away but I figure if I stick to dumps I can be safer just sucks because better stuff is in privies and this town digs em 25 ft down. Sickening that I can’t find one digger around here. I feel like I’ve searched high and low.

    Digging alone

Does anyone have tips? I’ve never been keen to the idea of digging alone because of the dangers of cave ins and what not but it doesn’t seem that I will find a partner to go out. Pretty sure I’ll stick to dumps but I know there has to be people that brave these holes alone and have some advice...

    Nice Vernor’s Ginger Ale bottles

Found those in a 1900-1940s dump when I was a kid. Love collecting sodas. Nice finds!

Chestnut Bott Pontiled but izit real??

Not true, had a friend find four swirls in an old barn on a 1790s farm property that were mint. They are out there, but odds are we won’t find them.

Chestnut Bott Pontiled but izit real??

This in an example of a swirl, there are other similar bottles that were Dutch from the same period. Ca. 1840s

Chestnut Bott Pontiled but izit real??

There is something that’s called a zanesville (OH) swirl that’s similar. Been hunting for that one for years.
