    First Privy Dig

It wasn't entirely fruitless, but none of the bottles were that "good" though. Thankfully it's not that hot here either.

    First Privy Dig

Actually I missed that part lol sorry. The listerine was found a little above the bottom and there was a small broken one at the bottom along with the bottom of a big jar at about the same height as the Listerine. All ~1950s it looked. I'm sure to someone experienced this sounds kind of like a...

No insult taken. I'll probe it again to see if anything might be under it and might dig through it a little more. It's very possible that it was just dirt that they happened to throw some bottles into as it filled. It is kinda funny though that there were 2 bottles at the very bottom of the hole...

    First Privy Dig

So I don't think the hole is much deeper than what I last posted. I say that because I've hit clay. It's near impossible to dig through and I can't stick the probe in the dirt but a couple inches. Any thoughts on this or what to do next? I'd say just fill it in now unless there's some last...

Ummm...nooooo. No dead body here. I am 100% following the law. No need to worry or send the police. Just digging a hole that is definitely not a grave. 100% legal things going on.

I didn't think that it would've been that old since it was closer to the surface. Pleasant surprise. Here's a closer picture of the top after I rinsed it off. The "threads" aren't continuous around the top, which I thought was interesting. It's just 3 little bumps. I expected it to be pretty...

New to the hoard, mason jars, marbles and more!

Ok, thanks. Must've been exciting finding the wine jug like that. Especially because it could've been gone forever if you hadn't been there to save it.

Thanks, Leon. I'll probe the hole again soon. I might keep digging a little bit just because I'm kinda curious how deep it goes, but won't dig a second hole yet. Thanks.

No, I haven't found any white ash. And I just looked and realized I actually do have a picture from yesterday. I dig a little more after I took it, so it's a little deeper now.

    First Privy Dig

I doubled the size of the hole in both footprint and depth. It's a little over 5 feet deep now and has about a 6x6 footprint. Found a clorox bottle, a plastic topped flask from 1957?, a pickle jar, a 50s mason jar, a listerine bottle, and a teal marble. I'll take a picture tomorrow. It rained...

New to the hoard, mason jars, marbles and more!

How'd you get all the marbles? Cuz if you found em all that's INCREDIBLE! And I really like the display of the blue and red ones in the candy containers.

    First Privy Dig

Yeah that's where I found em all. It's full of blown in insulation so I couldn't see anything and was just sticking my hands into it until I felt something. I had a mask on but was still wheezing by the time I was done. Still super fun tho.

    First Privy Dig

Now that you say that it might not be a privy, that kinda makes sense. Because (1) it's upwind (2) the ground didn't seem any softer in the hole than around but that could, at least partially, be attributed to the probe (3) I've found glass in other places just as much as in the hole (4) I...

    First Privy Dig

Hello, all! It's been a long while since I last posted and an even longer while since I've actually looked for bottles because I've been getting into traditional woodworking. But that's not why I'm here. I'm here to show the bottle I just found. But first, some context. I've posted before about...

    Local 60s medicines

Been a while since I've been on here because I've been preoccupied with a new hobby of mine: traditional woodworking. But I was looking for a couple of things at a local antique store and saw these for $5.50 a piece. I haven't seen many paper label bottles from Greeneville from this era, but...

Help w dating pasteurized citrate of magnesia bottle

Made by Pierce Glass Company https://glassbottlemarks.com/bottlemarks-4/ This website is great for id-ing makers marks. It says they made medicine bottles for some pretty prominent companies in the early to mid 1900s. Which fits your bottle. I would say 30s. Also, I've seen similar Citrate of...

Hey, just checking in to see if you ever checked for Greeneville bottles. Thanks.

Mason Jar Info and what's a fair asking price??

It looks like from the first picture that it has something written on the side. That will be the most influential factor on the value. If you could post whether or not it says something, that would be helpful.

    My finds yesterday

The bottle was made by TC Wheaton Glass Company. The 58 could be a mold number or a date code, bottles like that have been used since the 30s at least for vaccines, insulin, sedatives, etc. so it would be pretty much impossible to determine which it is. The coin is cool. And sorry about your...
