    I just magnified that photo and it looks like a clean break.!!! So all I posted previous is a moot point. But this would be a good candidate for the grinding process if that company wanted to save the cost of making another bottle.

    Back to the original question. What you have is a three piece mold bottle and it is very possible that the two top halves were from a different batch of glass and the result is dark base and a lighter two piece top. IMHO

    Wanted to share a Dog bottle that I just picked up on eBay. The reason I bought this particular bottle is because of the crudeness. The neck is really stretched, and it has drippy glass running down the front almost into the dog. It has become my favorite of the dog bottles....!!!!

    First, why do you want to deepen the color? In a natural state the glass will usually turn a light Amethyst and not that dark color you see online for sale. If you really want to go to the dark color try lining a container with aluminum foil, then place the bulbs and bottles in the container...

    Don't know if you are familiar with Dellville Dam Rd. That is where I live. The hurricane that hit in 1972 took out the dam that was on Shermans Creek, so the name stayed but the Dam didn't!!!!

    Looks to me like you have found a surface dump. If you were using your metal detector to find that cone bottle. Start using a probe to see if there are any goodies below the surface. Go gently as you will feel the glass without breaking threw.

    Wales oval jar, Does anyone have a clue what this is. I found a lot of bottles in the marsh in Massachusetts this summer.

    Looks like a jar that a product called "COLD CREAM" came in. I am not sure but I think women used it to take make-up off of their faces.
