My last dig was cool and rainy. I appreciated the weather with summer just around the corner.
I probed out a promising spot near the side walk. Turned out to be a trashpit. I recovered around 50 bottles, mostly slick whisky flasks, but also some perfumes and cures.
I did find one local...
I recently picked up these two bottles. One from Houston and one from Galveston. I am theorizing (sounds better then guessing) that these were either creamers, or maybe used to serve something like an aperitif.
Can anyone confirm or guess with me?
Does anyone have something similar? From...
A lot of good info on this thread, but I did leave a little confused on when the barq's acls started. 1934 or 1939.
Ive been reading up because I dug this. It appears to be date coded 1937 and Im curious as to whether it would have been an acl or not.
I probed out a promising spot near the alley. Unfortunately it was mostly slick pharmacy bottles and flasks except for the Newbro's.
There was wood at depth so I thought I would try trenching along it. That's how I discovered the hutches.
I found this flask going through some of my dad's things. All he could say about it was that his dad said it was a confederate canteen. Idk about that, but on the other end of the spectrum, a different source speculated maybe European origin.
Love the bubbles and crude lip. Base has an area...
OLEANDER CITY
BOTTLING WORKS
GALVESTON TEXAS

Dug a new spot today and found some goodies. Everything was found in the top 8"-18" in a sparse trash layer. I think it was the interface between dredge material from raising the island and them bringing in top soil for lawns.
A recent pickup:
Dr J H McLEAN
MEDICINE CO
ST LOUIS MO
I normally stay away from St Louis medicines but it was a slow day and the price ($3) and color were right.
I see this guy has several patented medicines out there. This amber seems less common just based off of internet pings...
I recently dug this bottle. Full story on the Galveston Dig thread, but thought this deserved its own thread.
In the ground I could make out that it was an amber square, and could make out that it was embossed stomach bitters. Thought it was a hostettors for sure! Wiping away the mud I had...
Last trip out I probed out what turned out to be a 3.5'x3.5' trash pit. Found a common Galveston Brewing in the top fill. That was followed by about 5' of oysters, which means difficult and sloppy digging. There were some gems in there including two WOG hutches and a shaker digestive cordial...
