Now that I look at it, I think you're right. There were things about it that didn't seem very bear-like, including the longer tail and more pointed muzzle. It is definitely a bear. I'm unable to identify the items he's holding, but one item appears to be a bottle or purse with a cord handle, and the other appears to be a book tied with a rope around his wrist. I agree that it doesn't appear to be American. I was thinking maybe northeastern Europe, but I'm not getting middle east. Are there specific features that make it appear middle eastern to you? Whiskeyman, thanks for the welcome and for the info. I contacted Tom and he was extremely helpful. He told me he thinks my bottle is Italian, and not Clevenger. The base of your bottle looks like the mold it was blown in had some damage or repair that seriously affected the glass piece's ability to sit flat. Must be an optical illusion.
