found a early 1800's flintlock while diving recently..
what's best method to conserve it? electrolysis? and how would i go about it?
it's currently soaking in fresh water..and is slightly covered in encrustations..

went to my fav spot today....turned up some nice bottle plus other bits.
2 patent bottles, 1 pf herring, 1 1820 cylinder, 1 1780 porter, small carter's ink, knike spoon and and shackle
well...this month's not been great..been too busy with housework to do much diving..
the first pic is of today's dives..2 nice blacking bottles, 3 torpedoes, 6 codd bottles, 1 free blown/pontiled wine, 1 nice clay wine, and a sounding weight.
good days diving:
2x 1820 porters, 2x 1820 cylinders, 4x codd bottles, 50+ musket balls, 1 small codd/torpedo hybrid, eno's fruit salt + top, 2 inks., tea cup with british crest, brass sword tip, small brass pic,small clay pot.
best find was half sized late mallet / early porter(far left in pic)
this is the first good dive of the year..
standard case bottle, 1 porter, 1 cylinder, 1 rickets patent, 1780-1820's snuff, small brown glazed pot, leg shackle, clarkes B41 pills and to top it off...50 bucks!!![:D]
i'm a diver in bermuda...and i regularly have to make decisions on what to bring back...often leaving regular 1840-1900 black glass wines/ales behind due to being common here.that goes likewise with pickles/sauce bottles too.anyone else ever have the same issues?
