Found this last week and it is stumping me ... perhaps I have gone soft. Anyone have an idea? Embossing is "LANETT'S / BITTERS". Nice iron pontil base, square aqua shape. Top and rest of bottle was missing.
Much appreciated,
andy
Many of you probably do not know or have never heard of Dave Cutler of Queens and formerly of the Empire Diner on Manhattan's West Side, but what you do understand was his desire to find treasure. And he was extraordinarily good at the hunt, finding everything from coins to bottles to stoneware...
Yes, what is this? This lid was found this past week in NYC. Wondering about the age, rarity, and (of course) everything else. The lid says "CREME D'AMANDES AMERES / POUR LA BARBE / ROGER & GALLET / 38 RUE D'HAUTEVILLE 38 / PARIS". The transfer ink is black and the pot lid has a slight dome...
My buddy Scott located a couple of these blown, amber diamond shaped bottles and was wondering if anyone knew what product they held and where they are from. We have never seen these before in all our years of digging -- guess these were not really "savers". Sorry ... could not help it...

Thanks,

The bottle came out of a pit in the NYC's East Village near St. Mark's in the Fields. The original rowhouse on the site was built...
Any ideas about rarity, specific date range, or anything else? We found this in a NYC privy a couple of week's ago hugging the wall where it, thankfully, had not been dipped out by the honey dippers in the late 1860s or early 1870s.
Thanks much for any help.
I am stumped by a cool ink we dug in a NYC privy a couple of week's ago -- anybody have a clue or ideas about the location, maker, embossing, and so on?
Dark olive-green that is essentially black glass, about 3 inches across, embossed "BEZANGER" with the "N" reversed by the mold maker, and...
Last week while digging in the New York City area, we recoverd a olive green Saratoga style mineral water (except that it has an applied blob top instead of a double collared lip) embossed "F.H. Hecking's / Mineral Waters / New York." I cannot find any listing or information on the bottle . . ...
