I have never seen a Lake's that was not pontiled...this one is for sure as all are. Nice bottle that sells in the range of $800-$1200. They have come down recently as quite a few have been available. American Bottle Auctions has one on their "for sale" page which remains unsold. Great find and...
That Kelly's is a nice example but my concern is that the outside photos show much less green than the inside pics. At almost $30k it went for much more than this color has brought in recent sales. Obviously two bidders really wanted it. It goes to show that good colored bitters are very strong.
The Schnapps is definitely a later version with an embossed "bulls eye" type circular pattern and definitely not any form of pontil. It dates to about 1910 or so. Value would be in the $12-$20 range at best. The clear whiskey looks to date about the same time...maybe a couple years earlier...
One slightly positive aspect of ebay is the numerous irradiated bottles popping up.You see so many nuked bottles, it gets pretty easy to spot it. As frustrated as I get thinking people are being "duped", I have chosen to let them figure it out on their own or I get this urge to intervene and...
I would ask the current owners( maybe it is the bank or city) if you can clean up the trash around the house as this would definitely make it more attractive for the neighborhood and neighbors...( even for resale). I would also mention that there are some things that could be recycled and you...
I have always believed that it all averages out with some of my collection being dug by me which is zero cost in dollars ( just time and effort), and others purchased at bargain prices. The occasional bottle which I have been looking for if a NICE example is okay if the price is strong as in the...
The aqua Gold Dust's are scarce but not rare. This is a very nice example of this desirable fifth. The color looks rich, the embossing bold, and the condition appears excellent. Digging one is very special...congratulations! These sell in the $1500-$2500 range with the earlier amber versions...
I have sold some quality pieces through Heckler's and purchased a few. Every transaction was at the highest level of professionalism and excellent communication.
The only J.D. Heise I am aware of is an amber coffin style whiskey flask and it is from San Francisco. Perhaps it is a different Heise? A pic would help. as I did not see that one on ebay.
These are from Spokane, Washington and are quite scarce. A reasonable resale value would be from $600-$750 depending on condition. The paneled base examples are more attractive and bring a bit more.
I have seen quite a few privy's attached to or next to a house or other building...I am sure you already thought of this, but perhaps probe to the left and right of the "soft spot" to confirm that it is not soft from rain running off of the roof ( assuming you get rain). if the ground is hard...
By "advanced" I meant experienced, and not a "newbie". The class envy on this site is disappointing. I am not rich by any means, but NOBODY deserves to be taken by these predators. The past year the bottle scams have really ramped up. "Deserves to be taken"? Are you kidding me? The bottles that...
I simply cannot believe how rampant the bottle scams have become. Surely there MUST be something that can be done to trace the server of these scammers to catch them. Maybe the NSA can do it, or the FBI, but you cannot tell me that there is no way to track down these people. In the past two...
