I just double checked and it's got a strong iron pontil on the bottom. I think yours...
I think sky or cornflower would be an adequate description. I think calling it "light cobalt" is stretching the definition of cobalt way beyond the breaking point myself. Nice jar, though.

You're aware that the ones with 971 on the base are repros? They're nice jars and actually worth more than the two originals here, but they are 1971 repros, generally worth about $60-80 apiece I think these days.
You know, people have told me I ought to put my jars in a musuem but I kinda feel like it would be a shame to do that since that would lock away a bunch of one of a kind jars from any other collectors ever owning them. I suppose you could argue that it would be nice to "keep them together", but...

That's a great jar and a super early one - probably 1850 or so. Those were free blown and are known as the "bell shaped wax sealers". They come in aqua and an incredibly beautiful sapphire blue. My blue one is pictured here...
