posted in digging forum, no response. It is a base I dug. I have no idea what it is to or for. Appears to be 1/2 pint? Should I goe back and look for a whole one ot not.

Hi welddigger,

If you were finding some good jars too, it might be worth a trip back, but probably not for one of these. From the style of the embossing and numbering, I'd guess 40s-50s. I can't make out the number above Ball, but that could probably be the job number. Ball made amber containers for many, many customers. Bottles and jars, from medicines, to beverages, coffee jars, bleach bottles, Ovaltine, shoe polish...if a customer wanted amber glass, it was made at Hillsboro, IL.
