Would anybody have any info on a lid i recently dug in Toronto.
I suspect it's british but not sure as it's the first i dug.
The lid reads, MILLER'S PREPARED GLYCERINE.
The transfer is black.

Hi Bottlerobin

It appears that your lid is Canadian - refer to Early Canadian Bottles Website/following information:
http://www.ecbw.ca/7.302.htm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miller's Prepared Glycerine pot lid is 6cm in Diameter and was produced by Northrop and Lyman Toronto Ont. between 1890's to 1910 approximately and it is not an uncommon pot lid.

Most of the ceramic pot lids originated from Britain, particularly the Staffordshire factories, and were made according to customer's orders.

http://www.deantiques.com/PLG/index.htm is an excellent web resource for Pot Lids.

Cheers,

Des.
