The following are some results from Lancasters yesterday. All prices are in AU and quoted before buyers. The Williams Swiss Violet brought $200 (large face chip), the Thomasson $1850, Prof. Botanic Ointment (639) $1800, but the split Davies which was supposed to have sold at the last sale for $800 was back again and this time went for $375. $1800 for the Page with wide border (unique).
The Lawrences Cherry Tooth Paste (629) ($400+) went back to England, as did a couple of other English lids including Lot 592 B.B. & Co. girl's head $2250 and Lot 599 Cathedral $1300. (must be good to pay in pounds!) The Bazin went for $200 but was not a good example. It had a chip out of the side, a hairline up onto the face, Frenchman pictorial for $900, also 610 Bears Grease $275. In fact the Bears Grease generally went cheap. Blue Floretta (407) at $375 Lot 626 Willie pink brought $275 (CHEAP). The 638 Josephson Blue Star went for $425.
To sum up, the common english B+Ws lids brought an average of $40-$50 the same as ebay, Pratt was usually available under $100, anything with pictorial or unusual design brought good prices and just about all the Aussies lids went much higher than estimates.
