Not too sure what to call this. I don't know anything about this piece, expect for it looks old, and has a deep pontil scar. If anyone knows anything on the date, maker, type value or any information it would be great to know!! Thanks!!

my guess would be last half of the 20th century, from somewhere south of the border. Those loops are interesting, maybe for attaching a floral decoration?

How can you tell if it comes from south of the border? I thought that if a piece of glass had a pontil scar, then it would date around or before 1860s. Just wondering.

A pontil mark by itself is not a definate indication of age. There is glass being blown today that is pontil marked. I cant tell you for sure that this came from Mexico, or India, Bulgaria or whereever but the glass/metal look and workmanship makes me think its imported and not exceptionally old. Mexico was the first thought that came to mind. Just my opinion of course.

Tin roofs, tin cans , and tin men were mostly made of steel (iron).
Most things called "tin" are just tin plated to help prevent rusting.
I'm not sure if that glass item of interest is rusted or corroded. Its hard to say from a photo but it looks like the metal may be a base metal plated with zinc. Just a guess.
