I recently picked up this bottle at a local "junk" shop! Is it a whiskey or a snuff? It has a large jagged pontil, sheared tooled top and a neck seam that stops at the shoulder.... One side of the bottle is embossed with a Vt. or VI. I have heard the numerals sometimes correspond with the strength of snuff... And what might be the value? I paid 6 bucks for it... no chips, dings, or haze! Approx size is 4 3/8" tall X 2 3/4" X 1 3/8" Any help is greatly appreciated! Jim

Hi tazmainiendigger,
I'd say its more likely a whiskey or brandy than a snuff bottle, may be a purfume too.
Value is probably not great due to not having any name on it, but six dollars is not bad for a pontiled anything [:D] .
