i have this bottle that i hope somebody can shed some light on. it is a blob top aqua soda/beer bottle. on the front it has 3 lines. the first in an arch is I.C.VREELAND, the second is NEWARK and the third is N.J. on the back it has a large v

here is a picture of the back. i guess what i am asking is if any one knows any history. the vreeland name is in my family tree and they were from n.j. about this peroid of time

Isaac C. Vreeland is was born in 1823 in NJ and is listed from 1860 at least til 1880 as a soda water maker in Newark NJ.

thank you for the information. i have had this bottle for over a year. the only information i ever found was an olive green bottle for sale with same markings but listed as a port bottle on a web site other than ebay.

thank you for your reply. i went back and looked hard but saw no evidence that it is a G instead of a C. i took several pictures but this is the best i could do.

don't wanna start a big tif here I looked up Vreelands in NJ in the U.S. census reports (thats how I date some of my bottles, & just find alittle more history) & the Isaac C. popped up in 1860 - 1870 - 1880. Course I've seen 'em put the wrong initials on bottles before too.

i thought i would revive this post to see if anyone has any new info. i have since the post gotten another of these bottles in better shape. any info is greatly appreciated.

This link will show bottles from three firms from NJ that had Vreeland in their name. Vreeland Bottles

There are currently 7 bottles listed.

I believe the Valintine & Vreeland disbanded in 1857 and I have I. C. Vreeland operating from 1857 to 1891. Need to get a picture of the Indian Root Beer Bottle!
