Ok we are looking good for another stone liner .....1850 barrom hotel...
Statistically the numbers and they don't lie....say dipped....but we won't know...til we dig it. Last one all morning we were praying for milks and screw caps so reverse psychology doesn't work either. It a numbers game.
This will be the seventh stone liner in 3 weeksand thats Ludlow Street Summit Hill late 1830s to 1860s, 70s pits!

Pray before you dig.... If the hotel/bar closed down while it was still in use it may be full of bottles. Dipping was not a big thing down here so when you can get one to dig it usually has bottles.

Speculation is a terrible thing,but we still do it.Sometime it turns out like you thought,but more times then not it don't.My thoughts from now on are going to be"seek and thou shall find" and keep diggin! The out come is unknown.Next!
If I think like that sooner or later a good one will pop up [:D]

5' Square stone liner....poor hopes from the getgo......rocks and just fill.
Couple a pieces here and there. Then the water 2'' from the bottom...
Slake jumps out says I don't know I go in to finish and pop this bad boy comes out. The one and only whole bottle in the pit..........A KEEPER
J.S stands for James Sweeney, a known supporter and probable Molly Maguire.
S. Hill of course is Summit Hill, Pa. Scored the yard next door and across the street. Big ole fella stopped bye....Hey you that digger...I say yes sir I'm Joe...shakes my hand he's got catchers mit hands three times the size of mine..
You did a good job cleaning up and fixing the posts......I said crush stone getting dumped tomorrow.....he says just pile it... I said I can't....I have to spread it....
I'll do it he says.....I say how old are you.....A bullcrap he says he's 87
I said I'm not going to have you face down on a pile a stone on my watch.....
he grins says ok and away he went.
