On another thread we were discussing whether or not phone numbers appear on antique bottles. I thought it might be interesting to see a few examples. I cannot recall seeing a single bottle with a phone number that was not a milk bottle. Here is a nice little example. This is an embossed 5-cent store bottle probably dating to the 1920s or 30s. The phone number at the bottom is 521.

There are lots of hand blown pharmacy bottles with phone numbers.
A pharmacy presciption call in and delivery service was popular even in the 19th century. Obviously the big cities got it first.

Pretty cool. Somebody should post a picture of a mineral water or beer if they have one.

Hey, what's the deal? I tried calling these numbers, but nothing happened!

Really though, I like these. I have a painted label (ACL) soda bottle in my collection with a two digit phone number on it. Imagine what a simpler time it was back then. Pick up the phone and say, Martha give me Dr. Bob. If cell phones were easy to use, there wouldn't be nearly as much danger in using them. But by the time I figure out how to get through on mine, I look up and I'm heading straight for a semi! (Okay, so I don't talk while driving, and now we know why!)
