When did Pepsi begin bottling in Montgomery? Anyone know? I'm sure Dennis can help.

I have a couple early Pepsi bottles from Montgomery. My favorite is the one with the misspelling.

wonkapete you had me lost for a moment! I was sitting here staring a hole through Montgomery trying to find what was wrong with it and right before getting a dictionary i saw bottling was the misspelled word! Funny how the old noggin will home in on one word and ignore everything else. I'm about an hour and a half south of Montgomery and know nothing about when they began bottling Pepsi. The only Pepsi bottle i have is from your neck of the woods in Flomaton.

Pepsi was actually bottled at two seperate times in Montgomery:

1909-10

and

1911-14

When Koca-Nola was found guilty of having cocaine in October, 1909, the Montgomery bottler switched to Pepsi-Cola. The plant was located at 416 N. Decatur Street and deliveries were made using two horse drawn wagons, one mule wagon, and a motor car. Partners were Lemuel M. Keen and B. N. MitchelI

In June, 1910, Pepsi-Cola was discontinued and the firm became Montgomery Gleeola Bottling Company. Keen, Mitchell, and Henry E. McDonough were stockholders. Syrup was purchased from the separate Gleeola Syrup Company of Montgomery and Birmingham. The Gleeola Syrup Company soon after reorganized, moved to Memphis, and became the Gay-Ola Company.

In April, 1911, the Montgomery Gleeola Bottling Co. again became the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company with the same stockholders.

In February, 1914, the plant was sold to Lindsay and Head and became Pep-to-Lac Bottling Company of Montgomery.

I think there are four different Montgomery Pepsi bottles.
