I found this Marble in a box of rough gem stones I bought at auction awhile back.. I don't know much about marbles but I'm pretty sure this had a pontil scar an is hand blown..possibly from German...

4 panel Onionskin. German. Need better pics. Surface of marble looks awfully good. Buffed? Polished? Poles look pretty tight. So, if polished not much. How big is it?

haha Roaddog I been checking the forum over at Tnet all day waiting for your reply... I thought it was 1 1/2inches I'm all new to this capliper stuff.. so when I put it in millimeters it is showing around 36.55mm.. I haven't touched the marble in anyways what soever on polishing or any other cleaning method... that is exactly how I found it in the box the day I bought it at auction...

Is there faceting at the pontil end? Polishing greatly effects value that's why I was looking for really close , clear pics. It's a good 150-200 dollar marble if it's as nice as it looks. Maybe a tad more.

I don't understand the term faceting at the pontil end, sorry this is still new to me... I can try to get better pics tommorrow... Hopefully it will be a nice sunny day... Today was overcast probly the reason for such bad pic...

The pontil would have been abit rough. A grinding wheel would have been used to smooth the roughness. Usually see this on the larger Onions. The grinding wheel creates a small area of faceting at the pole.

I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for but I do see a dullness at the pontil scars (hope scars is the right term) like there was a grinder taken to it... would this be the faceting your asking about?

If there is faceting it will be dead center maybe a quarter inch area or so. I remember reading somewhere that faceting was only seen on the older Onions. So, your may not have any.
