Chris,(Baltbottles) here is the pocket flask you requested additional photos of.This flask has 21 ribs.More key then the amount of ribs on this bottle is the light purple, grayish cast clear glass so typical of Amelungs works. The ribbed bottle fragments listed in my John Frederick Amelung book is anywhere from 13 to 22.Amelung produced more shades of purples in his glass works then any before or after his.

Picture number four of the pontil.Again as stated before in other posts,Amelungs glass had a lot of red oranage matter in the pontils.
I have been told that the natural soil in this area has a reddish tint in it and the workers would dip the end of the punti rod into the dirt to allow easy removal from the vessel after being in the annealing oven.
