Hi ya'll. This is just a plain Jane 5 1/4" medical bottle but it has a cross embossed on the bottom of it. Was wondering if that was a trademark of a manufacturer or what it stood for, or what? Thanks again, Kelley

The cross on the bottom of your jar is very similar to the cross on a Mason jar.
Are there any letters inside each branch of the cross?
I'm thinking, C. F. J. Co. (Consolidated fruit Jar Company) or H.F.J.Co. (Hero Fruit Jar Company).
I'm betting that this is more of a food products jar than a medical jar.

Hi I have about two or three with that cross, believe they call it a maltese cross,
Here is on with lettering on it EMPIRE. This company in NY had several marks dating from
1866. The one in the cross is 1910 to 1920,

No letters that I could see with my magnifying glass Woody, but it came out of the same pit as that Gem Butter so it may well be a food product. It just looked the same as all those other wide mouth clear medicines we pulled out. David, I'm sure it pre dates 1910 as the pit was abandoned in 1890 but it has no other markings other than the cross. Does one of yours just have a plain cross with no other embossment? Thanks guys, Kelley

There are wax sealer fruit jars listed in the Red Book of Fruit Jars with just that type of cross embossed on the bottom of the bottle.
This is why I thought it is probably some kind of food product jar.
