This was my biggest crier of the day yesterday but I kept it anyway. I assume it is worthless and just something to look at.[&:] Its a S.S. STAFFORDS INK 1 QRT Chunk busted out of the front cracked.

A very attractive bottle but they are pretty common so you didn't loose out on too much. Where there is 1 master ink there may be several more, so keep a lookout for the smaller ones which may have had a better chance of surviving intact.

Thanks Steve. It hurts even worst when you think you may have hit it with the shovel. There was a rusty spot in the brake though, which made me feel I was not totally at fault. Thanks for the reply.

Judging from the look of that mineralized conchoidal ding around the "K" of "Sanford's Ink" it seems that you are totally innocent. Not at fault at all. I would bring it back myself from the looks of it and place it in the window anyway, or give it to an elderly ladyfriend. Even if it were perfect, now that eBay has evened things out, it wouldn't be too much more than a 30-60 dollar piece anyway.

When you are digging that rare colored pontiled bottle and happen to shatter it, that will be the time to feel bad [:D]

Marvin, At least it's better than the one left behind by the previous diggers at my dump !!! I would have brought the one you found home also. Buster

I found a slew of the clear Stafford's master quarts (ABM) in a dump once. They pale in comparison to the cobalt ones.

Thank you all for your comments.

Buster, I got into some melted glass also, and came up with this Q,ban For The Hair. Don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it is warped and darker than it should be. At least it is whole. I guess it got a little heated up. Thanks, Marvin
