The 'China' looking marble is about 7/8" in diameter, as is the bennington looking one in the first pic...any opinions on these grouplets of marbles?

2 of The marbles in the first pic are antique german, brown is a fancy bennington the clear is what looks like a solid core swirl, decent marbles but not in the best of shape. The one you have a closeup of is a crockery. neat finds to dig up, but probably no more than 10.00 in value mainly because of condition. Thanks for showing them. Jay

also the blue one in the third pic looks like a peltier rainbo, and the one next to it may be an agate made from quartz. jay

Thanks for the help, guys. We didn't expect them to be worth much, just wanted to know what they were and their ages. I appreciate all marble info. I think they're so cool to find. My question is, how could a 1940's or TOC marble end up at the bottom of a privy that has pontiled stuff in it?

hey lauren, im no expert on marbles and or privys, the marbles with the with white glass look like marbles ive dug from a 30s 40s dump, but could very possibly be older, maybe the privy was dipped at one time and those were thrown in later ? and the dippers missed the bottom layer where the old marbles were am i making any sense lol ...............

Could be, Mike. It's fun to try to figure it out. Thanks. I guess that's why we all want to be archaeologists when we grow up!

When they dip, they always leave something behind.Thats why we dig privys, to get the stuff left behind by the nightmen.
Red's. the pontils you found where late throws in your privy.Things that have been on the shelf for a while. The stuff got broken and in the pit it went.
We opened up a pit today,I hope the dippers were lazy bums[8D]
