Excogitated? It means to think something through. To contrive, decide, invent through thought process. In her case it simply means FAKED, but her use of a contrived word gives her license to steal.

Excogitated

It reminds me of the old PT Barnum story ...

from Wiki.. At one point, Barnum noticed that people were lingering too long at his exhibits. He posted signs indicating "This Way to the Egress". Not knowing that "Egress" was another word for "Exit", people followed the signs to what they assumed was a fascinating exhibit...and ended up outside.

yes it is a blatent attempt at deceipt.

As I understand it posts made in the SCAMS AND FRAUDS section must be approved before they get posted. I suppose the idea is it gives the site owner some slight protection against liable law suits if people post stuff that is not really a scam.

oh I see you got a real answer as I was posting my best guess[;)]

Yes, that is true, Matt, and the admin or moderators must approve each post before it goes into public domain.

Didn't we discuss this some months ago for this exact same seller of "excogitated" labels? This is more of misleading rather than scam via big, obscure wording.

I try to post about it every so often. As I said , I get a number of emails from people asking me if these bottles are original (I guess they dont own a dictionary?)
Anyway I think its a scam and is designed to cheat the unwary. If they were selling legitamate reproductions they would make it clear. Junk like this hurts the bottle collecting community.
If I decided to sell "excogitated" Rolex watches I bet Fleabay would have a problem with that.

Very informative post. Deception is mostly a human trait, unless you are a predator insect.
