Thanks Steve, turns out this example of the reproduction Steve has detailed above has popped up on Ebay. While the color is different from the normal ones seen Steve assures me it's indeed a Clevenger repro, and after rereading this post it is very obvious to me now. I'm a watcher because I like to see what people are willing to pay for such a piece, I'd be very interested to know how many bidders know it's a repro but like it for it's color compared to those who have no clue and believe the sellers description. As always thanks for your well written posts regarding historical glass, it really shines thru in moments like this...[;)]

A word of warning, not all Clevengers have the straight neck...this one has a nice flared top with inward rolled lip, looks really legit...but still a Clevenger.

The base, on the other hand, is typical early Clevenger, easy to tell from the real deal when you've seen both.

Still a sharp looking bottle, though - some of these do have decent some value, just nothing close to the value of the original.

Admit it, if you saw it from a distance sitting on a dusty shelf in the back of a thrift shop, you'd swear you were about to make the big score....but, it was not to be.

Nice Tom they look great, but there is that part that you know they are not original to the period that makes them less appealing.I have mixed feelings about the Clevengers, very talented, the true last of their kind, and quite capable of making original pieces of glass either signed by the artist or marked as so with the firm name as some of their pieces are.
