Is there a market etc for Old gas/oil cans? While up at inlaws just sorting through top junk near a tree I found about 5 1gal oil and gas cans....pretty rusty but still whole...a green and silver/grey looking "Quality Oil" one and a castrol....don't recall the other two...

A lot of people collect old cans, especially oil cans. Depending on condition you should be able to find a buyer. However judging from your description it sounds like your cans are in pretty rough shape so unless they're rare I don't think they'd be worth a lot. However, I could be wrong. If you can, throw some pics up on here to give us a better idea on condition and type.

I COLLECT THEM. IF YOU POST PICTURES OF BRAND AND CONDITIONS I COULD BETTER JUDGE THE VALUES & AGES ON THEM.

I collected them myself, in the process of getting rid of all of them when the weather is more agreeable to get out and piddle with them . Here are several of my favorites .

Larry , do you have or have you seen a Tomahawk oil can ? I had a two gallon can , with picture of the arm of an Indian holding a tomahawk , got some good money out of that one . The one I had was the only one I had ever seen .

This is the one I saved from the 20-30 I found up there. Granted, I'm new at all of the bottle digging etc....(I'm a metal detector guy and naturally fell into this with all the stuff/dumps/land I have to explore at the farm)...Luckily, father in law has a backhoe, bobcat and tractors at my disposal up there and all the shovels a boy could want....Oh..and my bad..it's a 2gallon can..the front and one of the other sides are the best sides...rest is surface rust and could be taken off, I just didn't want to mess with it if it was worth anything...
