Here is another rare hat whimsy this time coming from the New England Glass works of East Cambridge Mass.
This hat is very old at 1820 to 1825 as a style and likely manufacture date. The color is a very dark cobalt blue
with a hint of purple in it.The hat has fine vertical ribbing and a large ground pontil typical of the type of work
performed at these glass works and those from the Boston Sandwich works. This is not a bottle mold rather it is
of a tall vase. The height of the hat is indicative of an affluent gentleman of the time period.
The hat is 4 and a half inches tall by 3 inches wide and 3 and a half inches long.
