This was in a group of about 7 items of Ruby Glass that didn't sell on E-Bay, I wrote the seller after the auction ended and got it next to nothing after shipping was figured in...cost me $1.88 without shipping.

As usual for these late 1800's items they spelled Paterson with two "T's", which has always done me well over the years. Only slight wear to the gold painted rim and no other condition issues to this beauftiful thumb print Victoian cup.....

Good work, Jim! That's a nice tea cup!
So, was it common enough to spell Paterson with two T's that it was a legitimate alternate spelling?

just seems to be a common mistake, William Paterson who was NJ's 2nd Gov and a signer of the US constitution is often mispelled this way too. It may also be because Patterson NY has 2 t's which may have affected how people spelled it. Good to see people still misspell it so I end up with good things like this on the cheap, I have a stemmed glass Ruby and it's wrong on that one too. I'm gonna go thru and see all the stuff I have that's wrong now Charlie......[;)]

Funny part is the town of Patterson NY is actually named after a farmer named Paterson who spelled his own name with two "T's" from time to time but it really had only one T......LOL....true story

Nice ruby flashed cup! I've got 3 different ones from Peoria, they are pretty nice to have in a town-oriented collection.

I am thinking that they are probably from the 1910-1920 period, but they may be late 1800s I dunno.

One that I have is from a fairgrounds that closed in 1895 so I feel late 1800's is a fair time period, this one may in fact be newer....[:D]

I was referring to the ones I have, it really is hard to tell without dates cut into the glass but for the low prices they can be had at I sure do like them! It seems that the painted ones might be newer than the cut ones, but I am no student of ruby flashed glass.

That one from the fairgrounds, is it more ornate or wordy than most souvenir pieces? I'd love to get one from Al Fresco amusement park which used to be here in Peoria. Mind throwing up a picture of the other ones you have?

No Plum it's just happens to have the name of the park where it was sold, not any flashier than any others...I also have some tin type photos from the same park...

I was hoping for some exciting new find for my 3000th post but hopefully that will come soon enough[8D] Here's a couple of my locals from Delta. They made them as early as 1905 since the little souvenir mug from Wildwood NJ was from my wife's grandmother and dated 1905.
