i bought one of these 3gal. milk bottles 18" tall.has milk,a star under it,1890 under that.my photos are too big,sorry.the reverse has a cow...all embossed.the bottom has a de-bossed star but glass smeared over it.either to look like a pontil or to avoid some TM infringement. i'm wondering if it's a deco piece or if it may have been made to commemorate some50 or100 year dairy related anniversary. anyone know? i saw a few aution listings but no info.

thanks cyber.i read in the photo section(duh) to chage the resolution on my camera.i have 12 "auto" settings.none say bottle, hee-hee.someone else here just taught me how to use paint,so here goes.tks,again.no imput on the bottle?who's the dairy nut.i saw quite a few in 1 of those collection shots.

I think these are new and not from a dairy. I think there machine made and don’t have a cap seat for a milk cap.

This is about all I saw right off.
The Meat Inspection Act of 1890 established USDA inspectors to enforce sanitary standards in the meat and dairy industries.
Tuberculin testing of all dairy cows, to prevent the spread of tuberculosis, began in 1890.
I think I remember reading about some plant that went bankrupt, got sold and then burned down in 1890.
Nothing monumental for patents or union beginnings.

THANKS,cow.i figured a dairy collestor would know right off the bat.i just wondered if it was intended as a vase with the farm town appeal or something else.i don't believe it was intended to deceive.i don't think it was even made as a commemorative,but i saw a couple dairies in the shape of a HUGE milk bottle and thought,who knows?my 'junk' bottle should give a little depth to my 40 cream tops,or at least make a nice $10 piggy bank.just nice to know if someone asks.thanks again
