Describing Embossing

How would you describe the embossing on this jar? And, what is it? Only markings on bottom; 6 86 or 98 9.

How about "embossed with horizontal & vertical lines" This is a fairly common packer jar design, should have one smooth side for a label. Most labels I've seen on these jars are for coffee. Circa 1930's - 1950's, my humble opinion is that value is pretty nominal unless it has a label. -Tammy

I didn't think it was very old- very thin glass. It was in one of my boxes. I'm going through canning jars now. Thanks.

I had to feed the cats and look through a couple boxes. Are these bottles of the same category?
