I bought a bunch of neat glass soda bottles from the Flea Market today to decorate my home with. I've been on the internet for hours looking for more information about these bottles other than "vintage" I can't seem to find ages for them.

Any help is appreciated! I'd like to know what I have other than what the bottles say!

Looks like 60-70's to me, the ACL experts would know better

7-Up, Sunkist and Sprite late 1970s to early 1980s

The Coke bottles look to be from the 1990s

Sunrise 1960s - 1970s

My favorite of the bunch is the Kist bottle which dates to the 1950s - 1960s. This was bottled in many cities; does your bottle have a city listed on the back or the bottom?

I posted a photo of my favorite Kist bottle dated 1938

You can probably find some additonal info at gono.com which has a great deal of info on soda bottles.

The Almacs that is listed is for a full bottle, empty they're half of listed price. Remember book value and real value are two different things. Mix's guide has it at $8-10.

Thank you all so much for your help with the dates.

I have 2 of the Almacs bottles. The other coke bottle says Almacs on the other side as well. Those I was guessing were from the late 80s or 90s. Almacs was a RI based grocery store chain that had around 40 stores at closing in the late 90s. I had to have those as I loved Almacs!

The Kist bottle has Fall River, MA (next town from me) as the bottling location.

Does the 1st coke say NO REFILL on the neck? Coke brought these back out in the past 10-20 years or so. As more and more bottlers and consumers switched to NDNR the distributers didn't like to deal with the empty returns since they didn't make any money from handling them. This hastened the end of the deposit bottles, along with other factors such as cost, etc. This being the iconic Coke bottle, they realized they could market a small amount of them for a premium price. The distributer or grocery didn't have to bother with deposits and returns and the buyer still got his "Classic Coke" I believe the even newer ones are 6.5 oz. and even thinner glass.

The 7-UP bottle had a Harrisburg, PA bottler that closed, probably mid to late 1980's. Tri-State Recyclers (I think) got the contract for the glass. All empties were crushed. There were some really great cases of odd sodas there, but I couldn't buy any from them. All the full 7-UPs went to Beer World for retail sale, but this time I do not believe they collected the deposit, as they would not be able to return them to the bottler. Dad and I would go and make up cases of the older styles and buy them. Still have them. Tri-State did not have a use for the wood cases, so they palletized and shrink wrapped them and sold them by the pallet for a nickel a piece. We bought probably a thousand at the time.

The Sunkist seems to me to be more of a southern bottle. I remember coming back from vacation in the late '80's with my feet on the dash because I had to have a case of each type of return soda we could find to take home. Possibly into the 1990's

Same with the Sprite. I was still finding them in the late 1980's, and possibly into the 1990's

welcome
I think I read somewhere that the glass coke classic came out in the early 90's and for only a year or two
