Hey John, neat Kist bottle! I have not seen a stubby one like that before either. Maybe it is unique to that one bottler. I would be interested to know if this style was used in other cities. Im guessing 1940s, is it dated?

You may need a magnifying glass but look closely to see if there is a dot embossed after one of the numbers. It can be difficult to see and sometimes blends into other embossed letters/numbers. However, we can narrow it down to 4 dates: 1936, 1939, 1946 & 1949. We can rule out 1936 because the Kist label was different from this one at that time. 1939 seems possible but only if there is no dot embossed after the 9. If there is a dot, 1946 or 1949. Maybe someone knows when Kist started using this style label...

Well, if it has 6 on the left of the diamond icon and a 9 on the right, it will read that no matter whether you read it from the top or the bottom. 6-9...or, 6-9.
It's gonna be a 1939 bottle since any/all from 1949 are going to have 49 on the right side.
Again, my research has many examples where the dot is immaterial to the dating of an O/I bottle. (See my comments inside Sodapopbob's thread on Dating O/I bottles for at least five refutations given.) Not sure yet what the dot means, but the most likely is a quality control icon as even Lockhart mentions in his monograph on the subject.
