I got to thinking about that post that sickrick did about life in 1910 and what items cost during that time.

Based on the price of gold and other commodities in 1910 I will compare a few.

1910 2011
gold one ounce piece $20.00 2000.00
coffee per pound .15 15.00
daily wage 1.00 100.00

So what is a dollar worth today?

Very good Jim. I have an old heavy duty bench grinder from my grandpa that works better then anything you can buy today. I replaced the power cord and cleaned up the brushes and commutator.
I just threw out my sears one that burned up after a few years.
