A few years back there was a reality show about a guy who dug for bottles where the out houses were.Couldn't remember the name of the maps he said to seek until now.Went to sanborn.umi.com with no success.Does anyone know how I can obtain some maps?I'm mainly looking for the Parkersburg,WV area at this time. Thanks !!

Check your local library, some have digital copies scanned into their archives. If not, try the state library. If you're a member you should be able to somehow access them from home.

Go to the Library of Congress website, there is section called "Ask a Librarian". Just type in a request with yr specific needs. I did this and an actual living librarian not only found the Sanborn maps I needed but also scanned em all and sent them to me. Even the 1924 updated overlays! Really helpful, esp. considering so few cities make these resources avail. online and the L.O.B. pretty much has the whole Sanborn archive. Hope this helped!--Joe

[] That's madness!!!

I must be extremely fortunate. I dig in FL and NC, and am trying to find a place here in TN. Sanborn maps are online for everywhere I want to be.

Well... For example, if I search for Lincoln County NC Sanborn I get a large list. I look for the ones with ".edu" extensions (i.e. http://www.lib.unc.edu/dc/ncmaps/sanborn.html ) and have been lucky enough to find them online for everywhere I want to look.
