My boyfriend found this bottle digging by a stone row on his farm. It says "Registered" at the top, "Contents 8fl Oz" at the bottom. "Louis Kish, Phillipsburg N.J." In and oval-esque shape with an over lapping LK in the center. There is also a "184" on the back near the base. My guess is it's a beer or soda bottle but that's about all I can figure.

It doesn't appear to be overly old and I don't know if it's relevant or not but there seems to be seams all over the place. There's a seam that runs all the way around about a centimeter up from the base, a neck seam at the top, two parallel ones that run up each side but one seam on each side fades off half way through the neck and the other runs through the neck and lip. I tried to get a picture of the parallel seams but my camera died before I could squeeze in another picture.

In any case I can't find squat about this bottle on google, hope someone can help me!

Here's the top and base as well, although there isn't much to look at.

Hey Autumn,

I found a bit on Louis:

"Louis Kish (b. 1884, d. date unknown)

Louis Kish was born 1884 in Austria, Hungry (1902), and died date unknown. He married Julia on 1911.

Notes for Louis Kish:
Louis could read and write according to the 1920 census.

According to his grand daughter, Mary Anne Kish, both Louis and his wife died on the same date of unrelated causes.

More About Louis Kish:
Immigration: 1902, 1930 census.
Occupation 1: 1920, Self employed Battler . He owned his own shop and employed others according to 1920 census.
Occupation 2: 1930, Farmer owned his own farm in Greenwich Township.
Residence: 1920, Demptster Park; Phillipsburg, NJ with parents.

More About Louis Kish and Julia:
Marriage: 1911

Children of Louis Kish and Julia are:
+Charles J. Kish, b. February 17, 1908, New Jersey, d. February 1985, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Louis Kish, Jr., b. June 08, 1909, Pennsylvania (1930 census), d. December 1986, Phillipsburg, NJ." From.

I do believe they meant Bottler in that 1920 census rather than "Battler." Both Charles and Louis Jr. appear to be dead guys, too. Doesn't sound as if he was bottling for a long time.

I know what'cha mean with seams all over the place, running parallel, and seeming to stutter stop. I belief those were the hallmarks of one of the early model bottle machines. If you can capture these manufacturing delights photographically, perhaps RED Matthews might be able to tell you more.

That Northampton Steer Bridge is a humdinger.

woah interesting find! I totally snubbed my nose when all the genealogy and background reports came into the search results. I never even considered a self-employed bottler. How neat. Camera is on charge, I'll try and get the seams up soon.

This is about the best picture I could get of the two parallel lines.
