At least the poinsttas are in focus. Are there letters embossed in that base?
You've been around long enough to know how to do proper photos. Why devote so much picture real estate to extraneous background? Natural light, close up, get all focusy, crop extraneous stuff, that's the ticket.
Hi carobran. I am inclined to say that I don't think it was empontilled because one can see the center vent dot in the pictures. This ocurence got some identity like "Improved Pontil" for a while. The vent hole helped get the air our of the space between the parison and the final mold cavity, at the bottom zone of the closed mold. It looks like a collectable bottle anyway.
The glass thickness around the heal of the bottle indicates that the parison swung quite a bit when the final blow was made.
