Hello all!

My first posting. Recently when a house was being torn down... A bottle with our family name of Claycomb was found. The first any of us heard of a Claycomb's Dairy.

How do I get more information?

Here is a drawing of the marking on the bottom of the bottle:

Welcome.
Clarion PA 1933 is my idea so that's something to start with. Did it or you come from that region? If so let us know. It would make a search a lot easier. Also a having an idea of how it was made like embossed or plate mold embossed, ABM or BIM etc. would be good. Got any actual pictures?

Yes... I do have some photos. I am remote right now and will post later. The bottle, I, and my family are from the Blair and Bedford Counties in PA... Central PA 16664. How did you come up with Clarion PA?

Hello Mr. Clapper,

Welcome to the A-BN. Are you familiar with Claycomb's Dairy Service in Martinsburg?

Your bottle was made at the Clarion, PA Owens-Illinois plant in 1933, from the drawing you supplied. "17" is the plant number.

Are there resources to research the location/history of Claycomb's Dairy?

Yes, there are. You're standing on em. Go talk to the older dairymen in the area. Go to the library, local historical societies. Go to Altoona and search the paper archive.

Milks are a local thing. The bottles, as a general rule, didn't travel too far from where they were sold.

Try the Claycomb Genealogy route.

Y'all have your own covered bridge,

there's probably folks on both sides that could provide information to you.

Where's the photo of your milk?
