Unknown Western Hutch - New Tacoma - Washington?

A buddy came up with hutch bottle, we cant find anything about it except for a 20 year old auction through Pacific Glass. New Tacoma was a railroad town outside of Tacoma built by the railroad in 1873, it merged with Tacoma in 1883.

anyone seen this one before?

Not even close really. The NEW TACOMA is a WINNER. You'll get much more feedback. Listed in Ron's first book (1986) as Very Rare. It will be interesting to see where it sets now. I would not be surprised to see it valued at $300 - $400

got a response from the Washington bottle collectors Club -

Hi there Matthew

Why is that we never find good bottles in Washington - seems like they
all turn up in California ;o)
You have found a wonderful bottle from Washington Territory (which
dates it pre-1889) - the "New Tacoma" part would also date to around
the late 1870s to early 1880s. It most likely took a train to
Californa.

It is one of the more commonly found territorial hutch sodas from
Washington and has a value depending on condition of $150 to $250.
The expensive ones have a deep color and an applied top. Based on your
photo - yours would be a standard color which puts at the lower end of
the spectrum.

i thought it would be worth a little more myself, its a beautiful bottle regardless of value! thanks for the reply's everyone

Not that I don't believe whomever wrote you that note (I don't trust many folks in that club) but I would get at least another opinion of it's worth. At least contact Ron Fowler. Don't get antsy and sell it too quick.

I think it would be worth a little more myself, it will probably go to auction to sell, as my friend does want to sell it. It was in a small collection he purchased, and of the bottles in the collection this is the one he is least interested in keeping.

I think an auction is the way to go, especially with an item like this where its value is in question. Not enough examples sold to really know or how much real interest. Make sure the description points out it is a TERRITORY item, that means BIG BUCKS in some circles.
