this seller has a few items Im having trouble with. The flask caught my at first, something doesn't look quite right about it. He claims it was found under the floor boards of an 1840's house with other period bottles... It is getting bid up! 1840 would be the wrong period to find a bottle like this...

then I saw his Harrison's Colombian ink, no pontil, glass is strange, and I cant see embossing on it anywhere?

strange...

the soda is nice...

I agree 100%.... something about that flask doesnt look correct..... and I as well can see NO embossing on the ink, and the glass looks off to me on that as well.

I dont see the problems, look right on my monitor. The Harrison's looks different with all the ink stain, cant see a pontil but it could be light.

Matt, the flask is legit, the new nomenclature for this type of flask is clock face type. Nice early color, good pontil mark, and you can see the half post cutoff very clearly in the neck. With regards to the story of the 1840 floorboards location this could be legend or here say. The flask is a lot older then the floor boards at 1760 to 1800.The color is very Southern New Jersey in look and very similar flasks have been to some extent attributed by our own Jeff Noordsy as to Southern New Jersey in manufacture. Jeff has seen some amazing flasks as evidenced by his sales!!The flask should do quite well in its final price. Here are a couple of Links to Jeff's similar flasks.

Matt here is a flask from my collection attributed to the Gloucester Glass works of Samuel Clement. This flask is from the 1805 to 1810 period.

maybe its just the pictures being small but I dont see it... still think that flask looks off, I cant see any base wear? otherwise it does look right, just I have seen half post reproductions... and I dont see any embossing on the ink... I thought it had old dried up ink on the inside but in the picture looking down the neck of the bottle I dont see it inside...

guess Im wrong though... it worries me a little my eyes are getting that bad if so! I can still spot a bottle poking out of the ground 30 feet away at least!
