History

Two brothers Hiram G. Farrell and William B. Farrell started selling Arabian Liniment in the 1840s. They originally came from Mt. Pleasant, PA in 1836. They started their drug store in Peoria by 1837. They are listed in the first Peoria City Directory in 1844. The Farrell bottles are some of the earliest embossed bottles from Illinois. Around 1849 they had a falling out and William moved to Chicago and competed directly with Hiram by selling his own Arabian Liniment. They accused each other of selling a counterfeit product.
