Hello, all;
I've been digging on a brushy slope behind a house for a couple of days now and I've found several newer bottles and a nice old Nehi bottle. [:)] My problem is the bank is covered with brush, (some of which I have removed) and the ground is a rat's nest of small roots. Every time I probe, I hit a root or a rock, and when I try to use my potato rake to remove the dirt, I hit a bunch of roots. [:(]
I think there is a treasure trove of old bottles there, but the roots and rocks are keeping me from it.

Does anyone know what I can do?
Any info is desperately needed and will be greatly appreciated!

Thank You and have a nice day,

For dense mat's of small roots an old knife sharpened up on a grinder will do a good job, hard to dig thru mongerel things aren't they [:D] .
As for rocks, they are just one thing you have to put up with [;)] .

Ah yes Grasshopper, but patience is a virtue....and a chainsaw is quicker! Actually a nice sharp pair of hand size garden pruners work great. I've given up on bring my Leatherman along, as I've lost 2 of them now! $$$ ouch! lol
