"Barrel" shaped medicine bottle

I don't know what to call this one... The closest shape is that of a Tanqueray Gin bottle. I assume it's a medicine bottle. The only embossing is a February 16th, 1886 patent date on the base. Ideas?

Something tells me it is most likely an ink bottle. I think I've seen an embossed in in the same design before.

Yup, Thaddeus Davids ink. They come in many sizes, from 8 oz on up to quart, and many colors, aqua, amber, light apple green, darker green, etc. A nice ink. Not big $, maybe a $20 bottle, but a nice one nonetheless.
