I wonder if it might not have been a Grove family sideline. Ole Elmer T. Grove was the original Elmira Coca-Cola man.
"At a meeting of the stockholders of the Elmira Coca Cola Bottling Company on October 11nth, Elmer T Grove, ET Grove, and Samuel Willard of Baltimore were elected directors.
The gentlemen interested in the company did an extensive business in the bottling and distribution of the beverage in Harrisburg but believe that Elmira is a better distributing point. The new company has commenced the erection of a substantial two story building on West Second Street." American Bottler, 1917.

Elmer T. Grove, 78, Elmira, N. Y., a graduate of Dickinson College in 1903, died Feb. 8 at the Arnot-Ogden Hospital, Elmira.
He was the founder and president of the Elmira Coca Cola Bottling Works.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lettie Eppley of Carlisle whom he married 46 years ago. " From.
