Welcome to these parts, and thanks for the partial photo, and too brief sales pitch.
I'm not interested, but imagine those, who might be, would like to know the size, know the strong points, and see the entire bottle. You know, a little Romancing the Bottle type stuff...
I do have a picture of the full size bottle, do I need to create a seperate post for it? I don't think I can post 2 pictures on the same post or can I? Thanks for the suggestions and help!
Hey Meg. The Gridley dairy is located in what is now known as Wauwatosa. One of my best friends growing up had a grandfather that delivered milk from Gridley in a horse drawn wagon. I would say generally that neither Gridley nor Bordon bottles are rare. However, I do not recall seeing the embossed combination that you have on your bottle very often. Also, the shape has a bit of bulb look to it which is a little different. The rim makes me think that it is not an early bottle. My guess is early 1940s.
Thanks for the input! I really don't know whole lot about milk bottles, my mother gave me her 100+ collection and unfortunately there is no space for it in our home, so I am trying to sell the bottles and find people who would enjoy them as much as my mother did while she had them. I didn't even know there was a difference with the tops of the bottles as far as dating goes, so that is very interesting! Thanks again!
Cool. Good luck selling them. Maybe pick out your favorite one and keep it in a window to reflect light and remind you of your mother??? Who knows maybe you'll come to like it over time as a remnant of a different era that has passed us by. In terms of value, I'd say most milks are not overly valuable but decent ones can get in the $20-40 range and rare ones that everyone looks for but never finds may reach into the hundreds.
