HI, Yes,I saw this picture and saved it when it showed up. These repair things always interest me. There just wasn't much written in the books about early glass making, regarding the things that were done. They just did what they had to get done.
The different methods of peening out lettering is another thing I have picked up information on.
The mold cavity repair of milling out a dent damage and puddling in mold iron sticks to fill the mill out created the Half Leaf form on a lot of bottles. This one was argued about on the forum because many claimed they were only pinches of glass. Some times there is a pinch but they often stick on the side of a neck or fall to the bottom of the mold cavity where they are picked up on the bottle.
It is a fascinating study anyway. Thanks RED Matthews
