I know this site is for bottles, but I was wondering if anybody could give me the value of this coin or a website to go to. I love buying coin rolls on ebay, and I also collect lots of coins. The coin is a 1948 S error coin. The 1 is missing in the date, so the date reads, 948.

Is the one missing or is it just worn away? It might help if we knew what type of coin, a pic might help...

There are at least 1 or 2 prices guides for error coins. I used to have one way back when I collected coins. I was into errors for a while. A filled die error isnt a high dollar type of error.

A filled die is likely, but if the numeral is gone without a trace then I'd wager that someone with the proper tools scraped off and polished the area formerly occupied by the one. Happened pretty often.

I see they are doing stuff now like shaving the S mint marks off common pennies and bonding them on stuff like 1909 VDB pennies to make them seem more rare. I guess its only safe to buy from dealers who guarentee their sales.
