I recently went to a yard sale and discovered the property owner was a veteran digger who had over 5,000 bottles once. He had sold all of them, but said to come back tomorrow and he'd bring what he had left. He was a little hard to understand, and I did make out "Avon" which got me depressed. Well, I eventually made it back, and it was quite a surprise! After looking through mostly commons (but a few nice ones!) I offered him $100 which he accepted.

He also took me to the abandoned house next door which he owned. The basement was full of fruit jars, but nothing worth more than $1-2. I did like the looks of that crawl space though...

Very nice deal for $100, gotta figure the INK with reverse N is worth more than that...[;)]

Nice gets!

You would probably know far better than I, but Aren't those speedball bottles rather highly de$irable?

Ya done good, hope you can check out that crawlspace and make the deal even sweeter.

Thanks Steven,
They are scarce, and usually sell for $20-30 online. I'm keeping the nice one as a spare and selling the other for $5. On a side note I'm working with a few Little Rhody Bottle Club members on a RI ACL soda book. Should be out in a year or so!

The Harrison's is probably worth $125 if good condition, so you did really well on the bunch...

Thanks Jim,
It looks like an attic find with no damage (even had a cork). The N in ink is backwards too. Not sure how much that affects the value.

I'd say the ones with a normal N run $75-100 and the ones with the reversed N run about $125. They aren't rare, AW Harrison sold a LOT of ink back in the day, but they are popular. No ink collection would be complete without a couple of Columbian Inks in it...
