ORIGINAL: Conch times

Hi Mike, Yours are some beauties! I wonder how a milk bottle from Tn. got to key west. Do yours have anything on the back? This one says sealtest system on the back.

Hi Eric, so right under sealtest system it has sealed BB 48. It also says half pint liquid on the other side. On the bottom it has SD in the center and above that it has the number. 17. Then a small symbol and then the number 2. Hope this helps.

I can only find little bits an pieces of info.
BB48 was used by Berney-Bond ca 1904-30 roughly. I don't know the significance of the 48, perhaps a dairy designation, but it seams consistent on them. The 17 could be the approximate year but that all but rules out a tintop.
I think Sealtest started early 1910's so if that's right it fits.
I don't know anything about Southern Dairies but if yours is 1917 then they used that logo for a long time. It must have worked well for them.

the thing that interests me about the bottle is the thin lip, and the addition of drink not found on my bottles, i think your bottle is from the early fourties, here are two exact bottles but with different lips, the one on the left the standard lip, and the right the thin lip, both from the early 40s, your bottle may have been bottled right there in key west, not sure it was just a knoxville thing
